Covid-19 Distance Learning

Kia ora families and whānau,

We hope you all keep safe over the next few weeks. We will continue to send home learning electronically until the end of Term 1 (Friday 27th March). Then there are two weeks of holidays from Monday 30th March until Tuesday 14th April. We will then start sending home learning electronically again from Wednesday 15th April as this is the start of Term 2. Those who let us know that they didn’t have internet at home, will have received paper-based packs instead. You will find further information about what each team is doing below, along with a list of other websites that are useful to help children at home.

We are sending learning home to help keep children learning, as well as giving children some sense of routine and normality. Please do what is right for your family. The most important thing is your family’s well-being. All teachers are available via email and you may even receive a phone call or two to see how you are going.

Senior Hub (Year 6/7/8) – Mrs Karena, Mr Dewar, Mrs Greer

Every ‘school day’ the Senior Hub teachers are sending learning to both parent and student email addresses. Most of the learning is taking place through Google Classroom and SeeSaw (students are used to using these in class – they will now become experts!). Hub teachers are able to check student learning and give them feedback and feedforward. Parents and students can make direct contact with teachers via email. Teachers can also phone you to help if needed.

Room 4 (Year 5/6) – Ms Mudford

Every ‘school day’ Ms Mudford will email through learning to parents’ emails. Some of this will take place using Google Classroom. Ms Mudford will be checking learning daily and is available via email. You can either work on Google Classroom or take a photo of your work to attach to an email and send to Ms Mudford will check your learning, provide feedback and comments. Ms Mudford is here to help. Keep up the awesome learning. Kia kaha, Stay safe.

Room 3 (Year 4/5) – Mrs Senior

Every ‘school day’ Mrs Senior will email through learning to parents’ emails. Please record your learning or answers in your Learning Journal in the Student Drive. Some tasks need to be drawn and for those you will need to use your exercise book or a piece of paper. You can also take a photo of your work and paste it on the document. Mrs Senior will be checking your learning daily and writing feedback on your document.

Room 5, 6, 7 (NE-Year 3) – Mrs Gibbs, Mrs Cammock, Miss Pryor

Online learning for the Pounamu Team is being managed through the teacher emails and Seesaw. Learning for the first week was printed off and sent home with the children on the last day of learning at school. Packs of levelled books have been sent home to children followed by a second pack yesterday, which included lesson content.

Room 5 will have weekly plans sent to each child through email, starting Wednesday 15th April.  These have all the links and resources attached for you to use. Please contact Mrs C if there are any problems.

In the future, Pounamu teachers will respond online via their teacher email to photos of the children’s learning and provide next steps for parents and students to try at home. Our Seesaw portal is a great place to share learning with our classmates and to keep in contact with each other. We also post links for songs, games and online learning opportunities. We have had a terrific response from parents to other children providing encouragement.
